How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

What to expect

During your appointment, she’ll take the time to get to know you and understand your goals. With the help of technology and in-depth facial analysis, she can put together a treatment plan to address your areas of concern and deliver a natural-looking result effectively.
After your facial analysis, you can expect the process of receiving your anti-wrinkle treatment to take approximately 15 minutes. Your anti-wrinkle treatment can take place on its own or you may like to include it as part of a more thorough smile makeover plan for the ultimate makeover!
Here’s what to expect when having anti-wrinkle injections at Pennant Hills Dental Centre:
Dosages: How much you have injected into your facial muscles varies from person to person. When you come in for your consultation appointment, Dr Harley can discuss how much she thinks you will need to get your desired effect. At Pennant Hills Dental Centre, we typically start with a low dose and review how you are going after 2 weeks. We can always do a little top up if required. Less is more!
Comfort: It doesn’t hurt too much. You will definitely feel the little pinpricks, but nothing enough to warrant asking for a break or thinking about it afterwards. You shouldn’t feel anything after receiving your treatment.
Results: It takes about 2 weeks to see the full effect of your anti-wrinkle treatment, however, you can start to see effects after just 2-7 days. People won’t notice, they’re likely to just think you look less stressed and angry, and more refreshed and rested. The results usually last for about 3 to 6 months, depending on the patient.
Aftercare: Sometimes you can experience some minor bruising at the sites of injection, which can easily be covered with makeup. We recommend that if you’re having anti-wrinkle injections to achieve a look for a special occasion, it’s best to give yourself a couple of weeks’ grace so we can get the look you want. We advise people not to touch the treatment area for 4 to 6 hours after administration. For 24 hours post-treatment, we recommend avoiding massaging the area, having facials, laser treatments, doing exercise, undertaking air travel or anything else that may stimulate the product to migrate from where it’s injected.
